Words Matter: Oral Language and Communication in the K-2 Classroom
The K-2 English Syllabus for NSW contains new outcomes. Oral Language and Communication is foundational to developing literacy skills and supporting learning across the curriculum. The focus of this professional development is to equip classroom teachers with effective whole class (Tier 1) practices and strategies to support the development of oral language skills and communication. Teachers will be equipped to implement the Oral Language and Communication outcomes in the new K-2 NSW English Syllabus.
This course involves five (5) sessions, each 90 minutes in duration. Sessions 1, 3 and 5 are run live via zoom and sessions 2 and 4 are self paced online modules. Participants have access to course recordings & materials for 12 weeks from the date of Session 1.
Completing Words Matter: Oral Language and Communication in the K-2 Classroom will contribute 7 hours and 30 minutes of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing standard descriptors 2.2.2, 5.1.2 from The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
